Me, Myself and 53 dogs
So the long move is under way. I made it into Eagle a few day ago with 53 dogs that are spread out throughout the woods on the edge of town waiting for me to give them something to do…….but until I get to Skagway in a few days (around the 27th) there is nothing for the dogs to do. I have to stay near the dogs since a lot can happen to them unattended on picket line…like tangles, fighting, and getting loose. I will be leaving for Fairbanks first thing in the morning, then spending some time on the road. I have a vet check lined up for all of the dogs to make sure they are healthy…as well as it being necessary for all 53 of the dogs to get across the Canadian border and fly up to the glacier for the summer. A local family in Eagle was nice enough to give me a good job working on a house in downtown Eagle, which is in hearing distance of the dogs if there is a problem. So that is nice for me to have some work and kill time ’till I get on the road. And its not really “killing time” since I’ve learned a ton on how to build log homes. I hope I end up being able to pick up some work in Fairbanks next winter doing some construction at times on homes. This would be beneficial for me to learn for when its time to build on my own property. I will try to post another blog and some photos of the trip in a few weeks when I get to Skagway and more set up on the ice. Until then, thanks for following my blog this winter. Next winter should be fun to follow as I start race training. Hope every one has a good summer!
Below are some cute dog-related photos from an email forward that I wanted to share!
